Our Approach

Dr. David Wachtel has a very personable, gentle approach. He takes the time to get to know each patient, their goals and their challenges. He’ll collaborate with you and make sure you understand his recommendations for a treatment plan. We believe it’s important to answer your questions and ensure you feel comfortable with each step of the process.

How to Prepare Your Body & Mind:

Drink 8 ounces of water before your session. Allow your mind to clear and your body relax. Leave the stresses of the daily grind at the door and allow space for calm and serenity. Our bodies heal most efficiently when we are stress free and relaxed.

What to Wear:

Most patients stay relatively clothed during their session, so it’s important to wear clothing that you’re comfortable in and provide access to your arms and legs. Baggie clothing that can be rolled up is best. We also have gowns available for patients who would be more comfortable changing into a gown or are wearing restrictive clothing.

Your First Session:

Each acupuncture session is typically about an hour. During your first extended session, we’ll spend 10-15 minutes getting to know you and understanding your goals and challenges before starting any treatment.

During Each Session:

Depending on what service you’re seeing us for, Dr. David Wachtel will be readily available for the entirety of your session. He’ll make sure you feel comfortable, safe, and well taken care of.

After Each Session:

It’s important to drink at least 8 ounces of water after your session. Take note of how you feel afterwards, as well as any physical or mental changes you experience in the days following your appointment. Be sure to share these things with Dr. David in subsequent sessions.

Frequency of Treatment:

How often we see you will vary depending on your needs and desired results. We offer recurring appointments for ease of scheduling and also welcome one-off appointments to help on-demand.

Will It Hurt?

One of the most common concerns we hear from new patients is that a treatment will hurt. However, acupuncture needles are relatively painless and in some cases can’t be felt at all. They are extremely thin and flexible compared to conventional needles that you would experience when getting an injection. We’ll be available during your entire session to provide assistance if you are uncomfortable or to address any concerns that may arise.

hat if I’m Afraid of Needles?

Acupuncture needles are not the same needles used when getting shots. They are very small and are much more flexible. We understand that some patients have had past trauma or general fears around needles. Dr. David Wachtel takes a very gentle, understanding approach. He’ll be sure you’re comfortable and knowledgeable about each step of the process.
